If you attend and see me, ask me for a little treat I'll be bringing with me. I have 75 available!

I wanted to share a few book recommendations that I didn't share in the video with you.

That Librarian by Amanda Jones is one librarian's battle against book bans in her small parish in Louisiana. It's a story of bravery and persistence that's vital to all the negative news we're receiving about book bans lately.

The Message by Ta-Nehisi Coates is one of the most incredible works of nonfiction I have ever read--centered on the stories and histories that are built and the battle to control and suppress the truth, there are equally important chapters on book banning, Gaza, and Africa and the slave trade.

Banned Together: Our Fight For Reader's Rights: YA anthology edited by Ashley Hope Perez with essays from authors whose books are banned. A motivating and hopefull read for your teen.

The Story of My Anger by Jassmine Mendez: Middle grade fiction novel recently released focused on fighting racism AND book bans in school that will empower your young reader.

I hope this Banned Books Week, you'll focus on action and not just reading. More to come..

xoxo,

Carmen
