Hi, my name is Carmen and I create book content on Instagram, Tik Tok and YouTube primarily read and uplift Latinx books and literature.

My Real Name

Carmen is a Cuban-American book lover whose passion for books drove her to establish Tomesandtextiles on Instagram in 2015 and Tik Tok in 2021. She uses her platforms to review and recommend Latinx books from across the diaspora and push back against the lack of representation in traditional publishing.

Carmen has been featured in publications such as Glamour, Elle, and Vogue because of her advocacy of Latinx books and authors. She has partnered with 1A through NPR to lead national book discussions and penned book recommendations for platforms such as NetGalley blog. As one of the leading voices in the Latinx book space, she was named one of 15 Latina Bookstagrammers You Need to Follow by Hip Latina.

Outside of her passion for books and undying love of her local library, she adores vintage fashion, going to concerts, films, and supporting the local arts. Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, she resides there with Mr. Textiles and her sweet elder pup, Veela.
